Join acclaimed painter Wendy Turner, and me for an unforgettable 5 days of artmaking on the magical Appledore Island.
From the Shoals Marine Laboratory website:
Since the late nineteenth century, Appledore Island has been a haven for both amateur and professional artists - painters, poets, musician, and more! In this tradition we invite you to join us for a week of drawing, painting, printmaking and photography. This workshop is an opportunity for anyone interested in visual art to use the rugged seascapes and landscapes of the Isles of Shoals as their palette.
Instruction for all levels in watercolor, oil or acrylic. Daily demos and reviews along with a focus on composition, color and using photography as source material, as well as photography as its own art form. Suggested materials list will be provided after registration. Photography walks, evening or rainy day printmaking instruction, and an art exhibition along with opportunities to learn about marine life and explore Appledore Island will round-out the week’s activities to enjoy while immersed in nature. Bring your own art supplies or camera and work at your own pace, while taking in the sights and sounds of Appledore Island.

“I return each summer because my body registers the joy I feel when I am there. It is exciting to be in this natural painting environment with scientists at the Marine Lab who can open your eyes to aspects and elements of the environment you’ve not noticed.” - Barbara Houston
